History CIGTP has provided gambling specific treatment since July 2001. The current Director, Lisa Pierce has been working with Compulsive Gamblers and Concerned others for over eleven years. This will be CIGTP’s eighth year in operation in Central Iowa. CIGTP moved into its new location in New Virginia in the quite Iowa countryside. The center has large and small meeting rooms available as well as numerous individual counseling areas for one on one sessions. The facility is located near New Virginia at the exit ramp. In 2004 CIGTP started adding satellite offices in surrounding towns to better serve Central Iowa. There are now four satellite offices located in Osceola, Lamoni, Chariton, and Creston. CIGTP's current staff’s of four counselors and two educational specialists previous experience – ranging from working with compulsive gamblers, concerned others, chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, behavior disordered children, abuse victims and perpetrators, and correctional clients, high school students – this staff is very diverse. The current staff’s length of direct services provides an experienced group counselors willing to meet the challenge of the increasing gambling opportunities open to Iowans. We have recently added a long distance counseling service to our website so we can reach more people that wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to get help.
